For homeowners
A repair is the right call for a few blown-off shingles, a leak at one vent or chimney, or a bad piece of flashing on a roof that is otherwise sound. Replacement is the better choice when granules are washing into the gutters, the fiberglass mat is showing, shingles are cracking or blistering across the roof, or the decking has gone soft. More in Should I repair or replace my roof in Minnesota?
An asphalt roof that reaches about 20 years without major hail or wind damage has done well. Hot summers, cold winters and freeze-thaw cycles age shingles faster here, so have the roof inspected around year 7 to 10 and again as it gets older.
Round, dark spots on the shingles where the granules were knocked off, often soft to the touch like a bruise, plus dents in vents, gutters, siding and garage doors. An inspector circles each hit in chalk and counts the hits in a test square on each slope. See photos in What does hail damage on a roof look like?
Have the roof inspected first. Hail is uneven, and a neighbor's new roof does not mean yours is damaged. We tell more people not to file a claim than to file one, and when there is damage we help you through the insurance process.
Yes. Our roof inspections are free and come with photos so you can see what we found.
It gets fixed before the new shingles go on: new plywood or OSB sheathing over old plank decking, or rotted boards replaced. Nobody can see the decking until the old roof is off, so we photograph it and show you what we found. More in What happens if the roof decking is bad?
Removing the old siding, checking and repairing the sheathing underneath, new house wrap, new trim and flashing around the windows and doors, then the new siding. See the steps in What does a full siding replacement involve?

Yes. We handle roofing, siding, windows, doors and gutters on commercial, retail, office and multifamily buildings, plus property maintenance: landscaping, tree work and snow plowing. See commercial services.
When water stands on the roof long after it rains, seams and patches are failing across the roof, and leaks keep coming back at drains, edges and rooftop units. More in When does a commercial flat roof need to be replaced?
It depends on size, roof type and weather. A small single-story building with a shingle roof can take one to three days of roof work; large low-slope roofs take longer and are often done in sections. See How long does it take to replace the roof on a small commercial building?
Usually, yes. We plan entrances, parking, deliveries, material storage and daily cleanup with you before the job starts, and let you know when the noisy work, like a tear-off, will happen.
When possible, yes. The gutters, drip edge and roof-edge flashing work as one system, so planning them together avoids disturbing new work later. More in What property managers should know before replacing commercial gutters.
Yes. Owners and managers use us for the roof, siding, windows, doors and gutters and for landscaping, tree work and snow plowing, so there is one call and one point of contact. See property maintenance.
